In this fully remodeled kitchen, we used two old-fashioned storage solutions: a Welsh dresser and a plate rack. These two pieces of furniture, one purchased and one custom-made, brought the charm we were looking for while providing much-needed storage. It’s easy to be dazzled by built-in cabinets, and to think that more is always better, or that everything must match. But by thinking outside the box, and looking to tried and true traditions, we can meet practical needs in beautiful ways.
